Message and Service Types
This is a summary of the msg and srv types available in the various ROS packages in the common_msgs stack. For more documentation, please see the relevant package.

Purpose of common_msgs stack
Isolating the messages to communicate between stacks in a shared dependency allows nodes in dependent stacks to communicate without requiring dependencies upon each other. This stack has been designed to contain the most common messages used between multiple stacks to provide a shared dependency which will eliminate a problematic circular dependency.
Guidelines for submitting to common_msgs
To be accepted into common_msgs the package needs to have been API reviewed and be in active use in a non trivial amount of the ROS ecosystem. It's really supposed to represent messages which are commonly used.
On the way to becoming a member of common_msgs please release a message only package and make it available to the community. Once it has matured, been reviewed, tested and possibly iterated upon by early adopters then it can be promoted to be a member of the common_msgs metapackage.
